Friday 10th May 2019The First Prudhoe Art Trail
Prudhoe Community Partnership at the Spetchells is organising the first Prudhoe Art Trail in the town. It’s a great idea and I will be helping with hanging the work. They are looking for talented artists from in and around the town to take part and over 20 businesses are keen to exhibit work so far.
Interested artists are invited to send jpegs of their work and an artist’s statement to spetchells@prudhoe.org .
These notes below from Prudhoe Community Partnership are helpful.
- Some 20+ central Prudhoe businesses are keen to display artists’ work so far, from cafes and shops to the library and Waterworld. We seek to increase footfall to those businesses and also artistic engagement from those enjoying the work
- We plan to secure a pop-up shop as showcase and headquarters, and to run related events from there
- We are looking for a variety of artistic styles, media and genres, of good quality, from artists from Prudhoe and the surrounding area – two-dimensional paintings, drawings and prints and also textiles
- Artists need to provide at least four pieces of work, framed and ready to display
- Artists are invited to send jpegs of their work and an artist’s statement to spetchells@prudhoe.org
- Renowned watercolour artist Paul Stangroom, who has a gallery in Prudhoe, will be overseeing hanging, which will take place on the Thursday and Friday before the trail. Work can be taken down on the Monday afterwards
- Preferably, artists should be able to attend the shop/premises where their work is displayed occasionally, to talk to the public about their practice and work
- Prudhoe Community Partnership will be selecting the work and pairing it with the premises
- We will be promoting the trail and the artists’ work through press releases and social media
- All artworks displayed are to be for sale
- We hope that the Art Trail will also become an annual event
- Artists are responsible for insuring their own work
- We welcome expressions of interest by 28th May
